Support Groups

Vermont Post Permanency Support Groups

The following Support Groups are provided by the Vermont Adoption Consortium in collaboration with Post permanency Services (From Lund, Easterseals, or NFI). Some groups are also co-sponsored by community partners or are community based support groups.  

 Addison County

ON HOLD AS A MONTHLY GROUP: Support Group for Adoptive and Guardianship Families held the 4th Tuesday of the month. 5:30-7:00 pm.   Donna is trying a new method to stay connected with this group via a supportive email where she invites people to join in an email conversation. For example in December the plan for the conversation was on being creative about holiday gatherings and special events (such as birthdays)—new traditions, etc. If anyone is interested in joining their email they can just contact Donna Provin by phone (802-343-0565.) or email donnap@lundvt.org

 Bellows Falls

Restarting March 10th: Circle of Support for Adoptive and Guardianship Families meets the second Wednesday of each month from 7:00 to 8:30 virtually for now, will restart in person as soon as safe.  Bennington County

Starting up again April 29th: Kin Care Support and Resources meeting virtually the last Thursday of each month - drop in anytime between 6:30 to 8:00 pm. To sign up and receive the link email kincare@ucsvt.org or call 413-884-5589

Brattleboro

NOW MEETING via ZOOM: Support Group for Adoptive and Guardianship Parents the second Tuesday of the month, 6:30-8:00 pm. For more information you can contact Heather Marquez by email heatherm@lundvt.org or phone 802-258-0308

Chittenden County

NOW MEETING via ZOOM and open to all adoptive and guardianship families in Vermont: Chittenden County Circle of Parents Support Group for Adoptive and Guardianship Families.  This group is topic focused on themes related the permanency journey of parenthood. Topics are client-centered from the group set out in a syllabus format for the calendar year. This group is held the LAST week of every month, the day varies, from 7:30-8:30pm.  Pre-registration is required.  For more information or to RSVP, contact Katherine Boise, BSW, M.Ed at Lund at (802) 735-6167.

NOW MEETING via ZOOM and currently open to parents statewide: Self-Care Support Group for Adoptive and Guardianship Caregivers:  This group focuses on self-care activities and discussions. Upper Valley

Montpelier

Families of Color, open to all families. Play, eat and discuss issues of adoption, race and multiculturalism. Bring snacks and games to share, and dress for the weather. Third Sundays, 3–5 p.m. Unitarian Church, 130 Main Street, Montpelier.
