Learning Opportunities:

Consortium sponsored conferences, workshops and training are offered regularly. Some are geared toward adoptive and pre-adoptive parents, while others aim to build the capacity of professionals —educators, social workers, case managers and therapists—to address adoption related issues.

For information about setting up a training or consultation for your school, child care center or community group call 802-985-0158.

Free Adoptive Parenting Training Sessions:

The Vermont Department for Children and Families (DCF, formerly SRS) and the Child Welfare Training Partnership (CWTP) are dedicated to provide anyone who is interested in adoption with the Adoptive Parenting Foundation training. This class will help people connect with other adoptive or pre-adoptive families while learning about general issues related to adoption. Each participant will receive a comprehensive resource manual, which covers school issues, loss, post-adoption and the like, along with looking at complex matters such as the perspective of the adopted child, adoptive parents and birth parents.

The foundation training will be held in various parts of the state in the coming months. Check back with us frequently to find a class in your area. This training is highly recommended by the State of Vermont, DCF in order to be an adoptive parent. The training is a total of 15 hours long and is conducted in 3 hour sessions over a five week period.

Check back soon for upcoming classes!
